Well, September came around fast, and with it a truly memorable night at the 2023 Dyslexia Awards. It was a celebration of the human spirit and the power of perseverance whilst being filled with incredible talent, moving stories, and a deep sense of unity among the dyslexic community.
As a recap I was a finalist in the category of amazing artist of 2023, something im truly humbled with, and although I may not have won, being a finalist in this prestigious category is a victory in itself. It’s a testament to the strength of those with neurodiverse conditions. Dyslexia has shaped my journey as an artist, pushing me to think differently, embrace my unique perspective, and persist in the face of adversity.”
I wanted to share some of the photos from the evening but also use this space to demand strong action. I strongly believe in change being required in our education system, In the UK, our education system is failing our children, it wants to build an army of analytical drones that favors only those who are book smart. But it’s not always about perfection; it’s about the relentless pursuit of one’s passion and dreams despite the hurdles.
I hope that my being a finalist can help build a better and stronger community and encourage those with neurodiverse conditions that nothing will hold you back, you must embrace your unique perspective on the world, persist when it gets hard, stand tall and be proud of your ability to change and mold the world as you see fit.
